MILitary PTK-CQC™ System

The effectiveness of the edged/impact weapons of the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali system makes it currently the only Kali system recognized by the Philippine government used to train the Armed Forces of the Philippines (including Special Forces). With its edged weapon methodology at its core, Pekiti-Tirsia is the most practical, effective, and proven edged/impact weapon system in existence.

One System, Any Weapon

Tested and proven through generations of combat, Pekiti-Tirsia Kali (PTK) continues to be applied on the modern battlefield in the Global War on Terrorism by the elite Philippine Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance Battalion, Philippine Marine Corps, the elite Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police, as well as other Special Forces around the world.

The Military PTK-CQC System is an Integrated Weapons and combative skills program in the Close Quarters Combat (CQC) tactical doctrine specifically formulated for military combat arms and special operation forces.  The program was designed by Tim Waid with an emphasis on how to train effective tactics efficiently – through the lens of his experience in the U.S. Marine Corps and the validated system of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali.

MIL PTK-CQC training provides operators with complete tactics, techniques, and skills for the close-quarters use of all personal weapons and field expedient weapons found on the battlefield and other environments.

The foundation strategy of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali accomplishes three main initiatives:

1. Protection from all attacks.
2. Neutralization of opponent(s) weapons and strikes.
3. Domination of the combat or self-defense encounter.

Combat Bladefighting tactics are executed according to this strategy – and applies to empty hand tactics and techniques. Tactics and training must provide skills for protection, evasion against opponents’ strikes, and the ability never to be hit. The methodology of a "live blade" system provides instant realization of this principle. Protection from strikes and attacks are accomplished by footwork mobility and maneuver, counter-offensive strikes, and by striking the opponent first. Opponent weapons are destroyed by direct strikes to the weapon hand or incapacitation by striking vital areas off-time of opponent’s strikes. Domination of close-quarters combat is executed by attacking, quartering, controlling, and neutralizing the threat regardless of terrain, environment, or multiple adversaries.

The Military-CQC EDGED-IMPACT WEAPON SYSTEM is comprised of:

  1. Combat Bolo/CQB/Close-Quarters Bolo
  2. Combat Knife/CQK/Close-Quarters Knife
  3. Combat Empty-Hands/CQE/Close-Quarters Empty-Hands
  4. Combat Bayonet/CQBT/Close-Quarters Bayonet
  5. Tactical Weapons Disarming/CQD/Close-Quarters Disarming
  6. Tactical Weapons Retention/CQR/Close-Quarters Retention
  7. Dynamic Tactical Footwork
